The Medical University of Ohio is giving its medical students the chance to spend some time with Alzheimer's patients and caregivers.
I think this is a great idea and long overdue. Book learning only goes so far. Real world experience and exposure to what patients and caregivers go through will be invaluable to everyone.
School is probably the best and last opportunity students will get for something like this.

This is great to hear. I wish this could be the standard in medical schools. My dad has been in the hospital seven times since February, and each time the staff acted as if they had never encountered someone with dementia. Indeed, they kept trying to consult with him like they would you or me - and he wasn't even sure where he was!
